Everything the household
juggles, in one place.

Built for the people you actually live with: partners, kids, grandparents, housemates. Everyone sees the same lists, live.

SHOPPING

One list. Everyone adds. Nobody forgets the milk.

Shared lists grouped by aisle for each shop, so the person at the store walks the aisles once. Add items by voice, or paste a whole list from a message.

  • Several shared lists: groceries, Costco run, back to school
  • Shopping mode: big tap targets, checked items drop away
  • Linked to projects and recipes

CALENDAR

Every pickup, practice and trip, on one calendar.

Month and timeline views with repeating events and the people involved. To-do due dates, birthdays, car services and project starts show up on their own.

  • Recurring events like swim practice, set once
  • Subscribe from Google or Apple Calendar with a private link
  • Filter by person or type

SPENDING

Know where the month went, and who owes whom.

Quick-add an expense in two taps, sort it into categories, and keep shared trackers for trips or the house with the balance worked out for you.

  • Multi-currency, receipt photos
  • Optional AI receipt scanning: snap it, review, save
  • “Other” sorted into the right category automatically

SHARED TRACKERS · GUEST LINKS

Split the trip with people
who don’t even have an account.

Make a tracker for the road trip, the ski chalet or the shared flat. Send one link and lock it with a password if you like. Friends add what they paid from their browser, and FamilyWell works out who owes whom.

  • No account neededGuests open the link and pick their name. That’s the whole sign-up.
  • Lock it with a passwordOptional. The link alone gets nobody in without it.
  • Viewer or editorEditors add what they paid; viewers just follow along.
  • Fair splitsCount a family as four heads, or let parents cover the kids.
  • Fewest transfersSettle-up suggestions in any currency. Mark paid, done.

BUILT TO BE EXTENDED

A small core.
A module for everything else.

Every feature in FamilyWell (shopping, calendar, spending) is a module. Families switch them on and off. Developers add new ones without touching the core.

The Modules settings page with a module.json manifest

    Switch on what you use

Settings → Modules. A family that never drives doesn’t see Vehicles. Turn it on later and it just appears.

  2. 02

Build your own in an afternoon

One folder: routes, models, migrations and an optional React bundle. Start from the tiny modules/hello example.

  3. 03

    Share it with every family

We accept third-party modules. Submit yours for review and it can be listed in the directory and offered on hosted FamilyWell.

BUILT IN THE OPEN

Read every line.
Change anything.

FamilyWell’s source lives on GitHub. Open an issue, translate it into your language, fix a bug or send a whole module. It’s source-available under the PolyForm Noncommercial license: free for families and nonprofits, not for resale.

Questions, answered.

Something else on your mind? Open an issue on GitHub or write to us. A human answers.

Is it really free to self-host?

Yes. For your own family, and for noncommercial groups like a charity or a school, it’s free, forever. You only pay if you want us to run it for you.

What does “source-available” mean?

All the code is public: read it, run it, change it. What the PolyForm Noncommercial license doesn’t allow is selling FamilyWell or offering it as a paid service.

Can I try it without signing up?

Open the live demo at familywell.co. You’re signed into a sample family with one click and can change anything. It resets every hour.

Can I build a module and share it?

Please do. Start from modules/hello and the module guide, then submit it. Reviewed modules can be listed in the directory and enabled on hosted FamilyWell.

Can I move from hosted to self-hosted later?

It’s the same app and the same Docker image, so your family isn’t locked in.

Give your family
one place to land.

Set up your family in two minutes, invite everyone you live with, and switch on the first module.
